Our organic no-till market garden and orchard produces a plethora of fresh fruits, vegetables, and nuts throughout the year. Our focus is on ensuring the soil microbes are healthy and diverse enough to supply our plants with the necessary minerals to grow healthy, flavorful, and nutrient-dense food.
Growing vegetables starts with dark, rich soil that is full of carbon and balanced with minerals. This carbon rich soil is very stable and not only capable of binding and storing many cations, but also providing the plants with adequate carbon dioxide for maximum photosynthesis. Added to the soil with each planting are beneficial microorganisms that supply the plants with all the nutrients they need in exchange for plant root exudates.
All water used to irrigate the crops is run through two coconut shell carbon block filters to remove chlorine, chloramines, trihalomethanes (THMs), volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), and more. This ensures that our plants and microorganisms are not damaged or killed from the water they receive.
Produce is grown inside three unheated caterpillar tunnels with overhead irrigation that allow us enough control over the soil temperature and moisture level to optimize the growing environment. This reduces stress on the plants and allows them to develop healthy immune systems and direct their energy toward growing healthy leaves and fruit, rather than fighting pests and disease. Seeds are either saved from our healthiest plants or sourced from organic growers to ensure epigenetic influences are maximized. This means that our plants derive from genetic stock that is not dependent upon chemical inputs for growth, and are therefore primed and ready to succeed in our environment.
The result of this process is healthy organic food that is chemical-free and with greater nutrient density and flavor than typical produce. This means more vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, flavonoids, and essential oils in each plant that are more bioavailable and readily-digestible for the consumer.
