Our honey is chemical-free and comes from our bees who are raised without any outside treatments and are procured from healthy hives from the feral reserve. Honey is typically harvested from individual frames. Since our bees are never fed sugar water, this means that each bottle accurately reflects the nectar flow at the time of capping with a unique flavor, aroma, and density.
Unlike commercial apiaries, our bees are allowed to draw out their own comb rather than building off of plastic foundation and reused wax from contaminated hives. This keeps our hives and honey nearly free of outside chemicals, and allows our bees to draw the comb size that they prefer. This helps to create a healthy microbiome within the hive and reduce disease and pest pressure.
Our bees derive from swarms caught from the feral reserve, which means they are from hives that are healthy enough to reproduce, and likely from survivor stock. These genetics allow us to achieve our goal of using no chemicals or outside treatments, including feeding sugar water.
The result of this process is honey that is as free of chemicals as possible. And because we typically harvest individual frames, we get an assortment of flavors, densities, and aromas, which makes for a unique eating experience.
